Global connections at the Loreto International Schools’ Conference
Loreto Toorak is one of over 400 Loreto Schools across the globe that share in a rich history. This year our Principal, Dr Stevens, represented our School in the Loreto International Schools’ Conference in Pretoria, South Africa from 25 June to 2 July, one of 70 participants from 19 countries.
The theme of the conference was, 'Rooted, Responsive and Relevant'. In her opening address, Sr Noelle Corscadden, Institute Leader said, 'Let us be rooted in the gospel and in our tradition and our history, let us hear and be responsive to the calls and the needs of today's world and let us be courageous and creative in our response to today's call, so our Mary Ward schools will go forward and continue to be relevant in the 21st century.'
It is a true gift to be able to gather together as a global community and celebrate the values of Sincerity, Verity, Justice, Freedom and Felicity, and to reflect on the GC Call, 'Create the Oneness that moves us across boundaries'. In her closing address, Sr Noelle, shared her reflection that, throughout the conference, the participants had together lived and modelled a Church experience as co-equals, all of us bringing our gifts and prayers to the table, and allowing ourselves to be transformed.
