Annual Music Concert – reflection by Helena McArdle – 2019 Music Captain

On Tuesday 30th July, 700 students from Loreto Mandeville Hall Toorak came together to showcase their hard work and talent at the Annual Music Concert. Girls from across all year levels, performed at amazing standards, showcasing a diverse range of styles, instruments, genres, and skill levels, ultimately allowed each individual person’s love for music to shine out through a unified performance.

Right from the Prep, Year 1 and 2 item at the start, all the way through to the showstopping finale of 500 girls as led by our Year 12 choir – the unfaltering commitment, love and authenticity was evident than on a wonderful night such as this one.

Whether it was a piece full of excitement and playfulness, or one of nostalgia and emotion, the music that was played and sung that night highlighted the passion for music that all Loreto Toorak musicians possess.

Furthermore, the dedication of each instrumental teacher and ensemble director did not go unnoticed. The lead up to the Annual Music Concert really allowed us to appreciate the hard work and devotion our teachers show year-round and appreciate their support, care and encouragement as we together drive towards musical excellence.

As I hope you witnessed in the audience, the brilliance of all these 700 students and the staff who supported them really radiated off the Hamer Hall stage, creating what was indeed a spectacular night.
