Frequently Asked Questions: Finding Your Way

We understand that choosing a School is a significant decision for your family. As you navigate your daughter’s educational journey, you will likely have questions about our community, curriculum, and admissions process. We have compiled the answers to the most common queries below to help you find your direction.

Admissions & Enrolment

Our enrolment process is designed to be clear and transparent. You can begin by submitting an enquiry form. From there, our Admissions team will guide you through the application, interview, and offer process.

We encourage families to apply as early as possible. While we have specific intake years, we maintain waitlists for most year levels. Contacting our Admissions team early ensures you are kept informed about availability and upcoming information sessions.

The application fee is $200 and is non-refundable. This fee covers the administrative costs associated with processing your application and maintaining our prospective parent database.

We value our Loreto families deeply and offer priority to siblings of current students, provided the application is received within our designated timelines.

Yes, Loreto Toorak offers a range of scholarships based on academic merit and co-curricular excellence. Details regarding scholarship categories, application deadlines, and terms and conditions can be found on our Scholarships page.

Academics & Operations

Rathfarnham (P-6) is our Junior School, where we build the essential academic and social foundations for her journey. Our Senior School (Years 7-12) offers a broader curriculum, increased elective choice, and targeted VCE pathways to prepare her for life beyond our gates. Operating seamlessly as a united whole School, both precincts share the same Loreto values, run on a shared 10-day cycle, and provide seamless House continuation from Prep to Year 12.

Our School day typically commences at 8.20am and concludes at 3.10pm in Rathfarnam and 3.00pm in Senior School. Please refer to our Term Dates page for specific details.

Beyond the regular timetable, our students are heavily engaged in an extensive range of co-curricular activities, sports, and clubs. Additionally, students have access to our Homework Club and the extended, flexible opening hours of the Mandeville Centre Library to support their academic pursuits.

We are committed to a holistic education that empowers ambitious students to excel. Rather than focusing purely on remedial support, our dedicated programs and Learning Diversity team provide dynamic enrichment, extension opportunities, and advanced challenges designed to stretch every student's curiosity and academic potential.

Rather than a generic policy, technology at Loreto Toorak is seamlessly integrated as an active tool to enhance learning. Detailed device specifications and BYOD requirements are tailored to each year level's curriculum to ensure every student is fully equipped for success.

Community & Student Life

As a Catholic school in the Loreto tradition, we welcome families from diverse backgrounds who are supportive of our values: Freedom, Justice, Sincerity, Verity, and Felicity. While we have a Catholic heritage, our community is inclusive, and our Religious Education curriculum is designed to foster spiritual inquiry and compassion in every student.

Wellbeing is a cornerstone of personal formation. Our signature EMPOWER program, combined with the URSTRONG framework in our Junior years, provides structured pastoral care from Prep to Year 12. With the dedicated support of Heads of Year, Homeroom teachers, and on-site psychologists, we ensure she has the mentorship and emotional backing she needs to thrive.

We believe in a strong partnership between the School and home. Parents are warmly invited to participate through the Loreto Toorak Parents Committee, by volunteering at community events, and by supporting our diverse range of School initiatives.
