At Loreto Toorak, our Camps and Educational Programs are designed to support each stage of a student’s development, helping her become a compassionate, courageous and globally minded young woman.
Junior School Camps and Outdoor Education
The Junior School Camps Program introduces students to age-appropriate experiences that foster independence, friendship and personal growth in a nurturing environment.
Students in Preparatory participate in a delightful afternoon, beyond School finishing time, enjoying fun activities and experiences together.
Students in Years 1 and 2 participate in a late stay at School, enjoying a fun and engaging introduction to shared experiences beyond the regular School day.
Year 3 students participate in a one night camp experience, building confidence, responsibility and strong friendships within their year level.
Students in Year 4 embark on a two-night Outdoor Education Camp where they develop teamwork, resilience and a greater appreciation for the natural environment.
Year 5 students spend three days and two nights at Sovereign Hill, bringing classroom learning to life through an immersive exploration of Australia's gold rush history.
Year 6 students travel to Canberra for a four-day educational camp focused on Australia's Parliamentary System, civics education and leadership development. This enriching experience provides valuable insight into Australia's democratic institutions and national history.
Senior School Camps, Leadership Programs and Retreats
As students progress through the Senior School, camps and retreats are designed to provide greater opportunities for personal challenge, reflection and leadership.
Students participate in a four-day activities camp that supports the transition into Senior School, encourages new friendships and strengthens year-level connections.
The Year 8 Outdoor Education Camp at Eildon provides students with opportunities to develop resilience, teamwork and independence through a range of adventure-based activities.
One of the most significant experiences at Loreto Toorak, the Year 9 Journey to Our Heart pilgrimage takes students to the Northern Territory for a seven-day immersive experience as part of the STRIDE@9 program.
Through connection with Country, engagement with Indigenous communities and opportunities for reflection, students deepen their understanding of Australia's cultural heritage and their role within the wider community.
The Year 11 Leadership Program focuses on service, personal growth and leadership development, preparing students to lead with integrity and purpose.
The Year 12 Retreat provides students with time and space for reflection, gratitude and connection as they prepare to transition beyond School life.
Optional Educational Tours and Immersions
In addition to the core Camps Program, Loreto Toorak offers a range of optional educational tours and immersive learning opportunities that encourage global citizenship and cultural understanding.
Available to Year 11 students, the Cape York Immersion is delivered in partnership with Red Earth and offers a transformative opportunity to connect with remote Indigenous Australia.
Students travel to Far North Queensland during the June/July holidays, where they learn directly from Elders and Traditional Owners while living on Country in Aboriginal homelands. The experience promotes cultural understanding, empathy and meaningful community connection.
Students studying Italian in Years 10 to 12 may participate in an immersive educational tour of Italy.
Beginning in Rome, students strengthen their language skills through authentic cultural experiences while exploring world-renowned museums, historical sites and significant landmarks. The tour also explores important connections with Mary Ward and the Loreto Sisters, deepening students' understanding of the Loreto story and tradition.
The NASA USA STEAM Tour provides Years 9 to 11 students with an extraordinary opportunity to explore science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics through real-world learning experiences.
Students participate in hands-on STEAM challenges, astronaut training simulations and educational programs at the Kennedy Space Centre. The itinerary also includes physics-focused learning experiences, cultural activities and opportunities to explore San Francisco's world-famous attractions, including the Exploratorium, Alcatraz and the Golden Gate Bridge.
