For 2026 School Captains Amelia and Zara, leadership has involved developing the confidence to lead, the courage to embrace opportunity and the conviction to pursue ambitious goals.
Recently featured in the Herald Sun, Amelia and Zara shared their perspectives on leadership and their aspirations for the future, reflecting on how leadership is about using their individual strengths to positively influence those around them while preparing for the opportunities that lie ahead.
Amelia – captain
How are you enjoying being School Captain?
I have really enjoyed working as part of a team and helping build community across the different year levels in our School, particularly putting into action our ideas and projects for the year and seeing them be a success.
What have you learnt about leadership?
I have learnt that it is important to manage ideas and plans and be flexible to change tracks when it is needed. Communication with our Year 12 leadership group has been essential.
Have your plans for after high school changed at all?
I am still planning to study something in the Arts field.
Zara – captain
How are you enjoying being School Captain?
I have loved the opportunity of being School Captain this year, especially in the way we have been able to work with other student leaders to build School spirit and a sense of community based around our core values.
What have you learnt about leadership?
I have learnt that to be a successful leader you need to work as part of a team and bring others along with you. As well, it has been great to work with my fellow captain in all aspects of the role.
Have your plans for after high school changed at all?
I am still keen to pursue studies in the Health Sciences area.
