Personalised Learning Support
Students requiring additional support benefit from evidence-based programs delivered by experienced Learning Diversity specialists.
Teaching plans are regularly reviewed in partnership with classroom teachers to ensure each student is supported across all learning areas. Through targeted intervention and ongoing monitoring, students develop the skills, confidence and independence needed for academic success.
Rathfarnham: Learning Support
In Rathfarnham, the Learning Diversity work closely with students, families and classroom teachers to identify learning strengths, assess individual needs and develop personalised learning strategies.
Teaching plans and strategies are regularly discussed with the relevant subject teachers.
Support may be provided in the classroom, through small-group sessions or via individualised programs designed to help students engage confidently with their learning.
Numeracy Development Program (Years 7 to 9)
Available from Years 7 to 9, the Numeracy Development Program supports students in developing mathematical understanding and confidence.
Students explore strategies for interpreting and applying complex numerical concepts while building the skills required for lifelong learning and problem-solving.
Language Development Program (Years 7 to 10)
Available from Years 7 to 10, the Language Development Program focuses on strengthening literacy skills and supporting students to become confident readers, writers and communicators.
Through small-group learning experiences, students receive personalised guidance in areas identified for growth, helping them develop the foundations for success across the curriculum.
Academic Extensions
Learning support and academic extension work hand in hand. Students are encouraged to pursue their interests, embrace challenges, and extend their thinking beyond the classroom.
A broad range of enrichment opportunities allows students to deepen their learning, explore emerging passions and develop leadership capabilities.

Language Circles: Personalised Language Support
The Language Circles program provides students with one-on-one language support from specialist teachers in Chinese, French, Indonesian and Italian.
Held in the Mandeville Learning Centre Library every Tuesday from 3.15 pm to 4.15 pm, these sessions focus on oral communication skills and language confidence. Students can book appointments with their preferred language teacher through the Library Portal, creating valuable opportunities for personalised practice and growth.
Mandeville Mentors
The Mandeville Mentors Program provides academic tutoring and mentoring support for students from Years 5 to 12.
Delivered by high-achieving recent graduates of Loreto Toorak, the program offers subject-specific tutoring, study strategies and academic guidance from mentors who understand the student experience at the School.
Sessions are available Monday to Thursday from 3.00 pm to 7.00 pm and can be booked in advance.
Through personalised support, students strengthen their academic skills, develop confidence and build effective learning habits.
Your Voice: Developing Creative Expression
Your Voice and Your Voice JR. are unique literacy and creative arts programs delivered collaboratively by Loreto Toorak and Xavier College.
Open to students from Years 5 to 12, the programs bring together young writers, poets, artists, musicians and performers from both Schools to participate in engaging workshops and collaborative projects.
Students explore meaningful themes, express their ideas through creative mediums and develop their communication skills in a supportive environment. Published in a commemorative book and celebrated through a Performance Evening, Your Voice and Your Voice JR. empower students to share their perspectives with authenticity and confidence.
