At Loreto Toorak, excellence takes many forms. Whether through the visual arts, music, leadership, sport or academic pursuits, students are encouraged to develop their talents, pursue their passions and discover where their strengths can lead.
Two significant events that highlight both the depth of student talent and the opportunities available beyond the classroom are the VCE Visual Arts Exhibition and 2026 Showcase Concert.
Artistic Creations Abound
The VCE Visual Arts Exhibition showcased the final works of students studying VCE Art Making and Exhibiting, Art Creative Practice, Visual Communication and Design, and Media.
More than sixty students exhibited works that reflected years of creative development, technical skill and personal exploration. Accompanied by artist statements, each piece demonstrated the complete creative process, from concept development and experimentation through to exhibition and presentation. Experiences such as these help students build critical thinking, communication and creative problem-solving skills, while giving them the confidence to pursue artistic pathways beyond the School gates.
The exhibition opening also welcomed two distinguished Loreto Toorak alumnae whose careers highlight the enduring value of a creative education. Hannah Abbott (Class of 2011) reflected on how the support of teachers and peers helped nurture her artistic ambitions as a Gallery Director, while Fiona Lynch (Class of 1991) shared how her passion for visual art at School laid the foundation for her celebrated career as an award-winning interior designer.
Grace, Year 12, reflected on the dedication behind the exhibition:
“Some students knew the exact direction they were heading from the outset; others had to form ideas through brainstorming, experimentation, trialling, discussing and planning. I can proudly say everyone has achieved something extraordinary this year, and everyone should be so proud of how far they have come.”
For Stephania, Year 12, the collaborative nature of the experience was equally valuable.
“Every canvas, media work, photograph, model and sculpture represents months of dedication. By sharing my work with my classmates, friends and teachers, each person brought their own experiences and interpretations, creating ideas that I never could have anticipated. That is what makes art so powerful – it allows something deeply personal to become something shared.”

Music Making Magic
Our talented musicians also took centre stage at the 2026 Showcase Concert, held in the prestigious Elisabeth Murdoch Hall at the Melbourne Recital Centre.
Featuring students playing solo repertoire and concerto movements performed in collaboration with the Loreto Symphony Orchestra, the concert celebrated not only exceptional musical achievement, but also the commitment, discipline and perseverance required to perform demanding repertoire at such a high level.
Behind every performance were years of practice, rehearsal and personal dedication. Whether performing as a soloist or as part of an ensemble, students experienced the challenge and reward of presenting their work on a professional stage, building confidence, resilience and the ability to perform under pressure.
These opportunities are an important part of a Loreto Toorak education, helping students develop skills that extend far beyond music itself, including collaboration, communication, creative thinking and self-belief.
“In this Loreto Year of Felicity, we extend our sincere thanks to our soloists, their accompanists, and the musicians of the Loreto Toorak Symphony Orchestra. Their performance at the Showcase Concert was a celebration of joy, truth and artistry, and a reflection of the enduring legacy of music at Loreto Toorak. May they continue to inspire, uplift and remind us of the remarkable power of music to connect, enrich and transform our lives,” shared Nicholas Grunden, Director of Music.

Results With Purpose
The VCE Visual Arts Exhibition and Music Showcase Concert exemplify what makes a Loreto Toorak education distinctive. Students are encouraged not only to achieve excellence, but also to explore their interests deeply, develop their individual talents and pursue opportunities that reflect who they are and who they aspire to become.
Every Loreto Toorak student follows a different path. For some, experiences in the arts will spark future study and careers. For others, they will foster confidence, creativity and skills that complement ambitions in fields as diverse as medicine, law, business, engineering and beyond.
