Humanities encompasses a diverse range of subjects, which includes 8 VCE 3/4 elective units. Each demand that our students think more deeply about the world around them to understand their place in it.

From Preparatory to Year 9, students study Civics and Citizenship, Economics and Business, Geography and History, with emphasis on developing their critical thinking skills. From Year 10, the students are offered a range of electives intended to prepare them for VCE studies.

Students have the option to participate in a range of extra-curricular activities, coordinated through the school's Humanities Enrichment Program. Our Humanities Club meets once a fortnight to encourage and assist students to prepare for events such as the Australian Geography Competition, Australian History Competition, The Simpson Prize and ASX Sharemarket Game. For many, the highlight of the year is Humanities Week where Loreto Toorak has its own Q&A, Budget Night and Shark Tank. We also invite many guest speakers and past students to speak to our students about their experiences in the field of Business, Politics and the Law.
