Young Students in the Junior School, 1940s

In 1939, the IBVM purchased a house, next to the front gate of Loreto Toorak. The large home was built in 1913 for Guillaume Delprat, a Dutch engineer, metallurgist, and his wife and seven children. In May 1940, the junior primary classes moved into the Delprat house. In 1952 additions to the junior school in the Delprat house commenced. The plan was to add a lunch chalet-hall and four classrooms. It was a slow process as building materials and skilled labour were still in short supply and even small deviations from the original plans met with delays.
