YOUNG FOUNDER UNITING SKINCARE WITH SUSTAINABILITY

Natassia Nicolao (2011)

Loreto Toorak Alumna, Natassia Nicolao (2011), is the founder of Conserving Beauty, an innovative and eco-friendly waterless beauty brand. The waterless beauty industry is on an exponential rise, given its focus on preventing water wastage, a lower carbon footprint, as well as offering consumers healthier choices in ingestible ingredients.

Conserving Beauty is Australia’s first water-responsible beauty brand, and Natassia is the youngest founder to have launched a beauty brand that is now sold across 40 MECCA stores and in the UK with Cult Beauty. Natassia recently won the Women’s Weekly Woman Of The Future 2022 Award, as judged by prominent females in the Australian political and media landscape, Julie Bishop and Ita Buttrose, respectively; Natassia is also a finalist in three categories for the upcoming Telstra Business Awards.

Natassia completed a Bachelor of Science at Deakin University and worked in product development within some of the nation’s leading skincare and beauty companies. After noticing that water is the primary ingredient in most products, Natassia launched her business in 2021 with the aim of conserving water usage and implementing sustainable practises in the beauty industry. Conserving Beauty has gone from strength to strength, with the world’s first dissolving cleansing wipe selling out in a two-week period, not once, but twice. The business has been featured in top fashion and beauty magazines including Vogue, Elle Magazine, and Harpers Bazaar. Natassia is proud that her business is the first beauty brand to have investors from both environmental impact foundations and government funding and boasts an all-female board that includes Aussie icon and supermodel Elle Macpherson.

The success of Conserving Beauty proves again that Loreto Toorak Alumnae are provided with a holistic education that offers all students the challenges they need to move into the world with knowledge, a heart for others and the drive to succeed in any area. The School warmly congratulates Natassia for her brilliant innovation and the launching of a successful career in the highly competitive skin and beauty care industry.
